Transform your health

by creating a "normal" that supports your goals.

  • "I ate badly last weekend, I’m going to go to the gym every day after work this week."

  • "I’m going to do 75 Hard.”

  • "I’m cutting out drinking and eating out entirely for January."

  • "I’m going to stop eating carbs starting Monday."

  • “I eat healthy, but I’m still not seeing the results I hoped for.”

  • Sound Familiar?

WE LIVE IN AN AGE WHERE INFORMATION IS A COMMODITY,

YET ALMOST NOBODY IS CLEAR ON WHAT ACTUALLY SUPPORTS THEIR HEALTH AND FAT LOSS GOALS.

I know HOW FRUSTRATING IT IS,

because I spent over a decade in the exact loop you’re currently in.

My Story

From 10+ Years of Frustration to True Clarity

& the origin of jrod protocols

I spent my entire life 30 to 50 pounds overweight until 2023.

I hated that the clothes I wore didn't fit how I wanted them to. I ate what I understood to be "healthy," tried cycling for 10+ hours a week, tried cutting carbs, tried running every day, and spent 8+ hours in the gym every week—all of it leaving me mentally and physically exhausted when it didn't work or worked for a little just for the weight to come back on.

When my "discipline" ran low (aka fatigue from eating food that I didn't like or left me hungry), I’d binge on cookies, fast food, ice cream, or whatever junk was in the cabinet. What was even more maddening was that when those all or nothing approaches failed after a week, I’d be onto the next idea—or give up entirely for a few months until I had the guts to look in the mirror, feel disappointed, and hit a new low.

I beat myself up for over a decade because I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.

When I finally tried reaching out for help, I realized why the fitness industry fails so many people: you only get expensive, isolated pieces of the pie or a firehose of information.

  • Personal Trainers ($100+/hr): They are amazing at perfecting your form, providing science-backed workouts, and holding you accountable inside those four walls. But outside the gym, there is limited guidance on your nutrition, sleep, or home environment (which is where most results come from).

  • Dietitians ($100-250+/hr): They are great at helping manage diseases, optimizing performance, or building a healthier relationship with food. But what happens when you are confused about something or start to teeter off track? They can’t see your activity, they don't know what you are eating, and in order to get those answers, you have to book another session most of the time.

  • The Internet (The Sea of Information): This is where the real overwhelm sets in. Every day, you're hit with hundreds of thousands of conflicting voices: cut carbs, do 75 Hard, run 5 miles a day, take these 10 supplements, walk on the incline treadmill, do these exercises to reduce belly fat. It creates paralysis. You end up spending more energy trying to sift through the noise.

Then I created JROD Protocols.

Looking back, I give myself a lot of grace for that time in my life.

I genuinely believe I didn't have a discipline problem; I had a clarity problem.

Uncertainty about what actually contributed to my goals made me give up quicker, try to find the next fad, or ignore my health until I hit a new low. I wish back then I had someone to give it to me straight and hold me accountable; it would have saved me years of frustration, research, and wasted effort doing the wrong things.

That’s why JROD Protocols was created.

A 1:1 Plan Built for Your Real Life

My goal as an online health and wellness coach is to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be with a 1:1, science-backed coaching plan built specifically for you.

Together, we establish clear goals and turn them into actionable steps that actually fit your life. No cookie-cutter workouts. No overwhelming meal plans. Just a clear understanding of what will move you forward—and a plan you can realistically stick to.

You’ll have weekly video calls, access to my client-exclusive app, and direct 1:1 messaging with me to ask questions, stay accountable, and continue learning along the way.

The Four Pillars of Lasting Health

Your coaching plan is built around four key pillars: nutrition, exercise, recovery, and your home environment.

Because getting healthier isn't about optimizing one area while ignoring the rest. Your workouts, food choices, recovery, sleep, and environment all influence one another—and they need to work together to create lasting results.

We’ll identify where you have the most opportunity to improve, make strategic adjustments, and build the skills and habits that support your goals without requiring your entire life to revolve around health and fitness.

Stop Collecting Information & Start Building Skills

There is no shortage of fitness information online. What most people are missing isn't more information—it’s clarity, personalization, accountability, and a plan they can actually follow.

That’s why I only offer 1:1 coaching. I don't sell e-books or stack different packages of information. I believe the highest odds of true transformation come from having a coach who understands your specific situation, answers your questions, teaches you why you're doing what you're doing, and holds you accountable through the ups and downs.

My approach is rooted in a degree in Kinesiology, 10 years of hands-on experience, and plenty of experience learning what works—and what doesn't.

I don't believe sustainable health requires rigid restrictions or 20-hour workout weeks. I believe in science-backed strategies, clear priorities, and small 1% improvements that compound over time.

And yes, that means you can still enjoy dinner out with your wife and a couple beers with your friends. Health should enhance your life—not consume it.

The Goal Is to Eventually Not Need Me

I don't want you paying me forever.

The ultimate goal of personalized fitness coaching isn't dependence on a coach. It's giving you the knowledge, skills, confidence, and habits to eventually take ownership of your health on your own.

Think of health like any other skill: it takes time, practice, and consistency to build what works for you. But when you have a clear, scientifically backed plan and stay committed long enough to work through the ups and downs, something changes.

Your goals and your reality start to become the same thing.

Hitting your targets isn't something you have to constantly think about. Your workouts, nutrition, recovery, and daily choices begin to happen in the background—because they've become part of who you are.

That’s the transformation I’m after.

Hey! It’s your coach here,

I believe great coaching starts with understanding the person behind the goals. Before I can tell you what to eat, how to train, or what habits to change, I want to understand your life—what you're working toward, what's gotten in the way before, and what will actually make this sustainable for you.

You’re here because you have goals, frustrations, questions, and a life that doesn’t always fit neatly into a fitness plan. That’s what I’m most interested in. Your story, your challenges, and what we can do together to help you move forward.

That said, we’re going to spend a lot of time together. So if you want to know a little more about the person behind your coach, here’s my story.

I fell in love with weight training at 15 years old, and what started as an interest in fitness quickly became a lifelong passion for human movement and physical performance. Years of self-study eventually led me to Westmont College, where I earned my degree in Kinesiology & Exercise Science while playing baseball and winning a National Championship my senior year.

My education and experience have always been grounded in understanding why the body works the way it does—not just what exercises to do. I gained hands-on experience applying movement science to injury prevention and recovery through my time in Westmont’s athletic training room and at Alta Orthopedics.

Today, with more than a decade of strength training experience, I specialize in hypertrophy, fat-loss coaching, and building sustainable health habits—the kind that become part of who you are rather than another routine you reset every Monday.

But more than anything, I care about the person behind the goals.

I want every client I work with to feel encouraged, capable, known, and seen. My job isn't just to give you a workout or tell you what to eat. It's to understand where you're starting, help you make sense of what actually matters, answer your questions, and give you the support and accountability to keep moving forward when life inevitably gets in the way.

Because ultimately, I don't want you to become someone who is good at following a fitness plan. I want you to become someone who knows how to take care of themselves for the rest of their life.

I’m based in Santa Barbara, California, but I coach clients anywhere through online 1:1 coaching.

Wherever you’re starting from, the goal is the same: to build a healthier lifestyle that works for your life and lasts beyond our time together.

In my free time, you’ll usually find me on a long walk, grabbing coffee with my wife, or taking advantage of pretty much everything Santa Barbara has to offer.
